The end of your bowling season will be here before you know it and many leagues elect officers for the next season at the end of the current season. Don't just re-elect the same officers unless you are satisfied with the way your officers performed their duties over the past season.
Key points:
1. Was your President or Secretary able to answer any questions you had for them? 2. Was the President well informed about goings on in the league? 3. Did the Secretary give out awards earned by league members? 4. If honor scores were shot during the season, were they turned in quickly? 5. Secretaries should be turning in scores for the Huntsville USBC Bowler of the Month. Did you have a score that was left out? 6. Was the league standing sheet posted every week on the web? 7. Was the President and other officers informed about USBC rules and made sure they were carried out during the season?
The league President should be aware of all league issues. They should also be verifying bank deposits and funds for the league.
The league Secretary should be posting the standings on the web, HUSBC.com, league secretary and or bowl.com. Awards should be turned in to the Association Manager on a weekly basis. Awards earned are returned to the league within one week and should in turn be passed out to the bowlers right away rather than waiting until the end of the season.
<p ">The league Treasurer should be keeping up with the league envelopes and not let it get behind without making every effort to collect the fees. The house should be paid each week with a check from a league bank account. If the house has in-house banking than different. Sanction fees should be sent to the Association Manager within 30 days at start of league and then on a weekly basis there after.
The Secretary/Treasurer gets paid at the end of the season lets make sure they are doing what is required of them.
If you think any of these duties were not handled properly, maybe your league needs to put someone else in that position. Don't be afraid to step up and give it a try, you can't do any worse then some are now. Not sure how to run the bowling program? The Association Manager will gladly help teach you how to do it.
